Louise Pover

Fine Artist

About

Louise Pover (b. 1999) is currently pursuing a Fine Art degree at University of Staffordshire. During her time at college, Louise was granted an unconditional offer to study Fashion design at De Montfort University. She had planned on becoming a fashion designer; however, she was unable to continue with her studies due to a long battle with her mental health which led to a diagnosis of bipolar disorder in 2019. After taking some years out to recover whilst working at a ceramics factory, she decided to return to education in 2023 to pursue her dream of becoming an artist.

Much of Pover’s work takes inspiration from her Lithuanian heritage, using family photographs, traditional patterns, and folklore as visual and conceptual starting points. Through portraiture, she reflects on both past and present generations, creating images that connect intimate family histories with broader cultural traditions. Her paintings aim to capture not only the likeness of her subjects, but also the emotional and symbolic weight they carry.

Working across painting and drawing, Pover uses various mediums to create artwork that feels both personal and timeless. Folklore informs the symbolic and decorative elements that appear within a variety of her pieces, linking the human form with myth, memory, and tradition.

Her work has been shown in both solo and group exhibitions across England, as well as in an international group exhibition in Croatia. Through these exhibitions, she continues to develop a practice rooted in storytelling, cultural heritage, and the enduring power of portraiture.
